Add Page Six on Google Twelve years after “True Detective,” Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are reuniting on screen — as themselves.
The pair will play fictionalized versions of themselves in the new Apple TV comedy, “Brothers,” which premieres on Sept. 23.
Per Apple TV’s official synopsis, the series follows the actors as their lifelong friendship “is thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret: they might actually be brothers.”
“What begins as a healing getaway on McConaughey’s Texas ranch quickly spirals when Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac (Holland Taylor), accidentally lets slip a long-buried secret that the two friends might actually be brothers. As Woody turns the ranch upside down in pursuit of the truth, Matthew finds himself juggling an entirely different identity crisis: a potential run for Governor of Texas.”
In real life, McConaughey’s mother Kay admitted to being “more than friends” with Harrelson’s father, Charles Harrelson, leading to the real possibility that they could be half-brothers.
“Brothers” premieres Wednesday, Sept. 23 with two episodes.
Apple TV has not officially confirmed a release time for episodes of “Brothers,” but the streamer will often release new episodes of original series the night before their listed premiere date. In the case of “Brothers,” you’ll likely be able to stream new episodes as early as 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday nights going forward.
“Brothers” is airing exclusively on Apple TV, so you’ll need a subscription to watch the show.
Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial for users, so you’ll be able to watch two weeks of doubleheaders before $12.99/month payments kick in.
Amazon Prime members can also subscribe to Apple TV directly through Prime Video. It costs the same monthly price and also includes a seven-day free trial, but allows you to stream Apple’s content inside the Prime Video app.
