Add Page Six on Google Presley Gerber, the only son of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, had checked himself into a Santa Monica rehab just days before his tragic death at 27.
A source told Page Six exclusively that the model had entered the facility in Los Angeles “this weekend” because “he knew he needed help.”
“He had not been doing well,” our insider continued. “He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person.”
The insider explained that he “seemed a little off in recent weeks,” like “something was just not there.”
“Energetically, he didn’t seem like himself,” they added, pointing out that Presley “felt like he was lacking purpose in his life,” “hadn’t really found his place” and “didn’t really know where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do.”
The source further stated that despite “struggling with a lot of things […] he wanted so, so badly to be free of his addictions.”

They lamented that “he was such a good kid,” who they believe was struggling with “the full gamut” at the time of his death.
On Sept. 20, at around 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers were dispatched to the facility over a male suffering cardiac arrest. A second dispatch call was then placed, with officers responding to a possible overdose. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased adult male, who was later identified as Presley.
Per the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, he was pronounced dead just ten minutes later. However, his cause and manner of death are still pending.
Following news of their eldest son’s death, a rep for the Crawford-Gerber family asked for “privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
However, our source told us that just last week, Presley spent a lot of time with his family, especially his dad, the co-founder of tequila brand Casamigos.
For the last couple of years, Presley had been open about his battle with addiction and mental health issues.
In 2019, he was arrested for DUI in Beverly Hills and he was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to complete a DUI program and two days of community service.
And in 2024, he admitted to “dealing with [a] current, very high opioid addiction.”
By 2025, Presley announced he was five months sober from alcohol before disclosing the extensive breakdown of the medication he was taking, which included Xanax for “really, really bad panic attacks,” Buprenorphine, ketamine and more.
In one of his last Instagram posts, the young model gave his fans a glimpse of the Mexican wellness center he attended in March, where he took ibogaine, a psychoactive found in the root bark of the West African shrub Tabernanthe iboga.
At the time, his mom praised him for being a “warrior” while his sister, Kaia Gerber, said she was “damn proud” of him.
