GOP’s Bruce Blakeman admits it’s ‘surreal’ his ex married Paul McCartney — as he reveals one thing he and ex-Beatle don’t talk about

GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman said he’s learned to let it be with Sir Paul McCartney after the rock icon married the politician’s ex-wife – though they never talk politics.

Blakeman was mostly complimentary about the famous Beatle and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who is married to the Republican’s ex-wife Nancy Shevell, calling him a “nice guy” and good stepfather.

McCartney is a good stepfather to Blakeman’s son, Arlen, and said they get along fine.

“Well, he’s my son’s stepfather and he treats my son very nicely. He’s a nice guy,” Blakeman said. “Our politics are probably not the same. But we don’t talk about politics.”

McCartney, 84, is a climate change activist and critic of President Trump, while Blakeman is a Trump supporter the president endorsed and called “100% MAGA.”

McCartney took aim at Trump’s stability in his book, “The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present.”

Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County executive and Republican gubernatorial candidate for New York, center, speaks during a campaign event in Howard Beach in New York City, Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. Michael Nagle for NY Post “We’re faced with the political situation, particularly in the US, where a braggart has been in charge and seems quite unstable to say the least,” McCartney wrote. “He’s shouting the loudest, but he’s not necessarily the smartest.”

Blakeman, 70, who was married to 66-year-old Shevell for more than two decades and had an amicable divorce, is remarried to Nassau County Family Court Judge Segal Blakeman.

Shevell was a trucking executive at her family’s hauling firm and previously served on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority board.

“Look, I wish my wife well. We were married for 23 years. We had a wonderful child together,” he said.

But he’s not too focused on yesterday, he said. He’s now happily married to a Segal Blakeman, a “great woman” he described as smart and beautiful.

“And she’s given me an additional two kids,” he said. “I have two stepchildren now and 3 grandchildren. So, life goes on.”
