Add Page Six on Google Orlando Bloom is dishing on his “sincere” threesome scene with Rooney Mara and Kate Mara in “Bucking Fastard.”
The “Lord of the Rings” actor discussed the intimate moment while presenting the film at the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain alongside German writer-director Werner Herzog.
“[There is] such simplicity to the characters and [their] carnal desires, but also an innocence to the sisters,” Bloom, 49, said, according to Variety.
Bloom plays Gareth Mulroney, a “sensitive” man who finds himself caught between twin sisters Joan and Jean Holbrooke, played by real-life sisters Rooney, 41, and Kate, 43, respectively.
“Bucking Fastard” is loosely based on the lives of identical twin sisters Freda and Greta Chaplin, per IMDb.
Bloom added, “My character, the ‘Bucking Fastard,’ is sensitive too, and he’s quite quickly out of his depth in some ways.”
He said the threesome was a “very sincere sort of moment” that he, Rooney and Kate created together.
Herzog, for his part, also weighed in on the scene, explaining that there are times when a director “has to step back.”
He recalled telling Bloom, “You are in bed, and you have two women in your arms. How you deal with it, I cannot give instructions.”
Herzog, 84, described the moment as “beautiful,” adding that the scene has “such charm and depth.”
