Add The California Post on Google A married couple in Northern California has been busted for allegedly operating a bustling illegal secret brothel inside a Cupertino massage spa that serviced dozens of johns a day in short spurts, officials said.
The Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office said the owners and operators of the Humming Bird Day Spa, Lin Wang, 46, and Xian Wang, 48, were arrested and taken into custody on September 10, along with managing employee Rui Wang, 42.
The couple are alleged to have been running a spa — in the 10000 block of S. De Anza Blvd — that offered sexual services to approximately 30 men every day and raked around $700,000 a year.
Officials said the arrest came after a March investigation following reports from locals alleging “illegal sexual activity.”
“Evidence shows that the business, marketed to male customers, had a high volume of men entering the establishment over a short period of time each day,” the press release read.
The couple owned and had been running the spa since 2022, which officials said was bringing in $700,000 a year, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Officials said the married couple and employee were allegedly involved in long term pimping and pandering operations, along with money laundering.
During the investigation, authorities said they found the three allegedly engaged in “collecting, concealing, and integrating illicit funds to maintain the business, fund personal finances and mortgages.”
“Profits were funneled through mortgage payments to properties in San Jose and Chino Hills, and through investments,” the press release read.
“There is no room in our neighborhoods for working brothels,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “There is no room in Santa Clara County for the criminal exploitation of human beings.”
The three are facing a variety of felonies, including pimping, pandering, and tax fraud, the DA said.
Two women were on scene at the time of the bust and received services from Community Solutions.
The three defendants were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Last year, the DA in Cupertino announced the bust of a San Jose family accused of operating a network of 10 sex brothels in the area, bringing in about a million dollars a year.
The operation allegedly involved the trafficking of dozens of women.
“The trafficking of human beings has no place in our community, or any other,” Rosen said at the time.
“Modern slavery is morally and legally wrong and will be met with no toleration and – as you can see by the agencies cooperating in this operation – the strictest legal accountability.”
