While discussing the war in Iran, The View‘s Ana Navarro noted President Trump has had a “troubling” change of heart when it comes to forcing regime changes since the United States ousted Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro.
“I think one of the things that’s really troubling me is how flippant, nonchalant, cavalier Trump has gotten about war, military operations, regime change,” Navarro complained during Monday’s (March 9) broadcast.
She continued, “He’s turned into the Oprah Winfrey of regime change. You get regime change, you get regime change and you get regime change!”
As the audience laughed, Sunny Hostin noted in agreement, “It’s true.”
Navarro pointed out that Trump has been comparing the situation in Iran often to Venezuela, which she feels is not accurate.
“Venezuela is a country that did not have missiles, did not have drones, did not have the military capability of fighting back and making it a war,” she said. “Venezuela was grab Maduro, one and done.”
Navarro added that she understands how the Iranian people feel, comparing it to the dictatorships in Cuba and Venezuela.
“I feel for these people. I know the Iranian people can’t get rid of the Ayatollahs alone. I know the Cuban people have lived almost 70 years under dictatorship and can get rid of these people on their own. I know the Venezuelan people can’t get rid of these people on their own,” she said. “But are we really now going to be a country that’s waging three, four different actions at the same time?”
Hostin then interjected to add that these military actions go against the America first position Trump took during his presidential campaign.
“I think people voted for him because, they wanted to fix our infrastructure, they wanted to have affordability in our housing, education,” she said. “He ran on fixing this country and I think people have been duped. I think people are disappointed.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
