‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Trump For Keeping His Hat On During Dignified Transfer Of Fallen U.S. Troops: “Take Your Damn Hat Off!”

The View sounded off on Donald Trump on Monday after the president kept his hat on during a dignified transfer honoring fallen U.S. soldiers.

After introducing this week’s guest co-host Sheryl Underwood, moderator Whoopi Goldberg kicked off a conversation about the current state of affairs in Iran, where the U.S. is “10 days into strikes.”

Before weighing in on whether they think an exit strategy is in place, the Hot Topics Table called out a misstep pertaining to Trump’s attendance at a dignified transfer held on Saturday (March 7) in Denver, honoring six fallen U.S. soldiers.

“I will say this: It really bugged me—and maybe I’m just being picky—when those caskets came off that plane, take your damn hat off,” Goldberg said, eliciting a round of applause from Underwood and the show’s studio audience. “Take your damn hat off! I didn’t understand why nobody pulled his coattail and said, ‘Sir.’ Just out of respect!”

In pictures taken at the dignified transfer, Trump can be seen wearing a white baseball hat with “USA” written in gold on the front, with “45-47” written on its side.

Sunny Hostin compared Trump’s behavior to that of former President Barack Obama, who she said “was the first president to preside over that dignified transfer.”

“He stood there for 45 minutes salute without a hat on, and with a suit on,” she explained. “And it was a very somber moment. It wasn’t about him, it was about the loss of our soldiers who gave their life for this country. What I saw when I saw that dignified transfer was it was all about Trump, and I thought that was despicable.”

According to CNN, the six soldiers were identified as Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens and Sgt. Declan Coady. Marzan.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
