Add The New York Post on Google Shocking video captured a brazen felon punching a bailiff in the throat and attacking deputies during his desperate dash out of an Ohio courthouse moments after he was sentenced to prison.
Timothy J. Reaggle, 20, was being escorted down a hallway by a bailiff at Columbiana County Court on Monday after learning he would spend a year in prison for a separate case, WKBN reported.
However, Reaggle appeared to have no intention of heading to prison.
Reaggle suddenly broke free of his handcuffs as the bailiff walked behind him, quickly turned around and struck the officer in the throat before sprinting away, according to video from the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office obtained by the outlet.
Reaggle is then seen lowering his shoulder and plowing into another deputy, knocking him to the ground before making a break for a stairwell — with an officer in hot pursuit.
He stumbled at the base of the stairs, right into another deputy’s arms — but wriggled free and bolted for the front door before being Tasered from behind.
Three officers then pounced on Reaggle as one appeared to put him in a chokehold and detained him.
The video also shows people rushing to help the injured deputies, one of whom was subsequently seen lying on the floor, bleeding from the head and holding a paper towel against his face.
Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin told WFMJ that both deputies broke bones in the attack but have since been released from the hospital.
McLaughlin said Reaggle is being held at the Columbiana County Jail and will eventually be transported to state prison.
Reaggle has yet to be charged with Monday’s incident, but McLaughlin told the outlet that the 20-year-old will likely be charged with assault on a police officer and a felony escape charge.
Reaggle was in court Monday for a February 2025 incident in which he allegedly broke into a home while three residents were inside, then assaulted or threatened to harm them, according to court records.
He was also charged with aggravated menacing for allegedly making one of the residents fear serious harm to himself or his property, and with fleeing police in a vehicle after being signaled to stop.
Reaggle pleaded guilty on July 13 to aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and two counts of assault — several of them reduced from the original charges — after withdrawing his not guilty plea.
He was sentenced to one year in prison on Monday, right before he tried to make his escape from the courthouse.
