Add The California Post on Google Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was stoic and quiet after cops stopped him for allegedly going nearly 30 mph over the speed limit last month, according to newly released police video.
Watson was pulled over by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in his pickup truck at around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 26 after he was accused of going 86 mph in a 60 mph zone, and bodycam footage from the stop obtained by the California Post on Wednesday shows his interaction with the trooper was quick and professional.
The officer informed Watson of his speed, and after he asked the NFL star to move his vehicle farther away from traffic, he got the 31-year-old signal-caller’s license, registration and insurance.
“I will be issuing a citation for the speed,” the trooper then told Watson. “Hang tight.”
After checking all of Watson’s information, the cop returned to Watson and handed him a speeding ticket. He then instructed Watson on how he could dispose of the matter before he let him go.
“Drive safely,” the trooper said. “Take care, sir.”
Watson pleaded not guilty to the citation in Cleveland Municipal Court on Sept. 9 and was given another court date of Sept. 23, according to multiple reports.
Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler, started the Browns’ opener against the Jaguars on Sept. 13, but did not play well in the 34-10 loss.
He nonetheless is expected to remain the starter this weekend, when the Browns play a road matchup against the Buccaneers.
