Luka Doncic leads star-studded Gatorade ad before pivotal Lakers season

Add The California Post on Google Gatorade featured several high-profile athletes in its latest commercial.

Lakers superstar Luka Doncic served as the centerpiece, with several other stars appearing, including the WNBA’s Caitlin Clark, Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

“The future belongs to those who hydrate,” Gatorade wrote in an Instagram post.

The 2026-27 season will be especially important for Doncic as he assumes an undisputed leadership role following LeBron James’ offseason departure. With training camp approaching, much of the responsibility for the Lakers’ success will rest on Doncic’s shoulders.

The 27-year-old has already demonstrated leadership by hosting the entire Lakers roster in Slovenia for a four-day minicamp. Beyond developing on-court chemistry, the overseas trip was crucial for bringing the group together after a massive roster overhaul.

General manager Rob Pelinka spent the offseason reconstructing the Lakers for the post-LeBron era. Questions remain about the rebuilt roster, but all eyes will be on Doncic as he leads the franchise into its next chapter.

Doncic’s prominent role in the Gatorade ad reflects his influence as a sports icon, but he will have to prove to Angelenos that he can deliver an MVP-caliber season while donning the purple and gold.
