Add The New York Post on Google We just might need a sequel to “Some Kind of Monster” because James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo will be spending quite a bit of time together this year and next.
Metallica just announced they’ve extended their ongoing ‘M72 Tour’ into spring 2027.
On the newest leg of the now five-year (!) run, the Rock Hall of Famers are slated to headline 12 one-off concerts at stadiums all over North America with special guests Limp Bizkit and Avatar from early May through mid-June.
That includes a stop at Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium on Tuesday, June 8.
Other spring ’27 gigs on their calendar include San Diego (May 13), San Antonio (May 22), Kansas City (May 29), Indianapolis (June 5) and Cleveland (June 15).
Prior to these upcoming shows, Metallica is scheduled to headline a high-profile 24-concert residency at Las Vegas Sphere that they’ve dubbed ‘Life Burns Faster.’
All Sphere shows will be part of their two-night ‘No Repeat Weekend’ series where the metal legends promise not to play any of the same songs at their Thursday and Saturday gigs.
According to Set List FM, their Thursday shows often included “Master of Puppets,” “Seek & Destroy,” “Sad But True,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Creeping Death while Saturday featured “Enter Sandman,” “Ride The Lightning,” “Whiplash,” “Blackened” and, of course, “One” among others.
No word yet on what songs will make the playlist at their one-off concerts but we expect mostly fan favorites.
Also, of note, Metallica has a pair of ‘No Repeat Weekend’ performances booked at Uncasville, CT’s Mohegan Sun Arena on Nov. 19 and 21.
Tickets for the newly-announced spring 2027 ‘M72’ dates officially go on sale to the general public on Friday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like Vivd Seats.

On top of the residency, Metallica is also helping Uncasville, CT’s 10,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena in November to celebrate the venue’s 25th anniversary.
This will be the first time the Rock Hall of Famers have performed in the Constitution State since July 1998 when they headlined at Hartford’s Meadows Music Theater as part of their ‘Poor Re-Touring Me Tour.’

The thrumming, high-velocity record quickly sets the tone with the non-stop thrill ride title track and then refuses to let up throughout its healthy 77-minute runtime.
Indisputable highlights include the snaking “Sleepwalk My Life Away,” nakedly raw “You Must Burn!” and unrelenting “Lux Æterna.” Don’t expect a second to breathe; Metallica goes hard the entire time with nary a moment to rest. Just the way it should be.
