Injuries have plagued the left-hander’s 2026 MLB season, with two lengthy trips on the injured list limiting him to just 14 total starts, but it appears Rodon is finally nearing full health.
In his latest return after missing several weeks with left elbow inflammation, the Yankees have taken it easy on Rodon, sending him out to the mound for no more than five innings over his first four starts.
Manager Aaron Boone appears to be taking the chains off Rodon now, though.
In his last outing last Friday, Rodon went 6 ⅓ innings against the Mets, tossing 93 pitches, the most he’s thrown since late June.
Rodon punched out eight Mets in that start while allowing just one earned run.
In fact, he’s been solid since coming off the IL despite not pitching very deep into games, having allowed two or fewer earned runs in each outing.

Minnesota also offers Rodon a favorable matchup to work deep into the game.
The Twins entered Tuesday having posted just a .678 OPS against left-handed pitching this season, which was the 5th-worst mark in baseball.
That should help his chances of working into the sixth inning or beyond.
