Gabe Perreault, his progress 54 games into his NHL career and his potential ceiling have all been up for debate this offseason.
The Blueshirts long have been criticized for an inability to develop, but Perreault — the No. 23 overall pick by the club in 2023 – is primed to make the Opening Night roster out of training camp for the very first time after an encouraging run last season when the team already had been eliminated from playoff contention.
“His best days in New York, they’re coming,” said a U.S. National Development Team Program source, who is one of many Sports+ consulted for this piece and was granted anonymity to speak freely.
