Add Page Six on Google The “Family Stone” sequel is “coming soon” with a star-studded cast of returning characters.
Searchlight Pictures announced via Instagram over the weekend that Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel McAdams and more A-listers are coming back for “Families Stone.”
The Saturday reveal, which did not clarify an exact release date, listed other celebs taking part in the project: Claire Danes, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Luke Wilson, Tyrone Giordano, Elizabeth Reaser, Paul Schneider and Brian J. White.
Writer and director Thomas Bezucha also returning to helm the film, per Deadline, with production taking place in New York this fall.
The 2005 movie follows Everett Stone (Mulroney) bringing his girlfriend, Meredith, (Parker) home to meet his family over the holidays, and Diane Keaton’s character, Sybil, Stone, is revealed to be terminally ill.
In the follow-up, “the Stone family “reunit[ing] for Christmas only to face the season’s biggest surprise: their father (Nelson) has unexpectedly invited the woman he’s fallen in love with to meet the family.”
The movie takes place “20 years after their mother’s passing” — and will come out in the wake of Diane Keaton’s death in October 2025.

The Oscar winner, who played Sybil Stone in “Family Stone,” died of pneumonia last year, which influenced Bezucha’s sequel plans.
“I’ve been haunted by the loss of Sybil for months now while I worked on it, and so this was a blow on a tender bruise already,” the 62-year-old explained to CNN in November 2025.
“Mentally, I’ve been spending time in that house where I’ve been missing her for a while already,” Bezucha continued.
He shared plans to “do a good job by the rest of the cast” and “honor her even more.”
Wilson, 54, had read the script by July, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I read the script, and it’s really funny, and it’s so nice that everybody wants to work together again.”
As for Mulroney, the 62-year-old gushed to “Tangle” podcast listeners that “everyone’s up for returning.”
The “Chicago Fire” star said, “I can be on record.”
Social media users raved over the “Families Stone announcement, with many asking, “How soon is soon?”
Parker, 61, re-posted the cast reveal to her Instagram feed, while Reiser, 51, shared the news on her Story with heart emojis.
