Add The New York Post on Google A hate-filled Carnegie Mellon University professor has taken a leave of absence while the school probes her “hostile and threatening” social media history, after she called for a “white man” to die while she danced.
Dr. Uju Anya, a Nigerian-born academic who has worked at the elite Pittsburgh research institution since 2021, initially bragged about being untouchable over her hateful online history, which has included wishing Queen Elizabeth II an “excruciating” painful death and celebrating the death of “s–tbag” Charlie Kirk.
The final straw appeared to come after her vile response Friday to a critic who challenged her over a hateful, years-old post in which she’d celebrated Rush Limbaugh’s death.
“Rush Limbaugh finally did something positive in life by dropping dead. Good Riddance to bad rubbish,” she wrote Feb. 17, 2021, the same day the conservative radio icon lost his battle to lung cancer.
A user who found it asked her Friday, “Weird how you only celebrate the deaths of white people. Why is that?”
She venomously responded, “Die first, white man, then ask yourself why I’m dancing.”
The response caught the attention of Elon Musk, who shared the post from her account, which has since been deleted.
“This is a real professor at Carnegie Mellon University …,” he wrote, prompting internet sleuths to ferret out and archive other hateful posts by the academic.
Anya taunted those calling her out and threatening to inform her employer, claiming that the university knew all about it and had courted her for a job.
“Carnegie Mellon University knows exactly who they have. They poached me from my previous job, aggressively recruiting me with a massive salary and stellar benefits. So baby, run tell them they f–ked up, and see if they pick up your call,” she wrote.
She went so far as to brag that the university — where her bio describes her as “a scholar of language learning and Black experiences in multilingualism” — was aware of the complaints but ignoring them.
“Keep crying, loser. My department chair just texted me saying they’re throwing all of your emails in the trash,” she wrote, punctuated by three laughing emojis.
But hours later, the university posted the news on its website and X that Anya “is currently on voluntary professional leave from the university and not teaching courses on our campus this year.”
“We are deeply concerned by recent hostile and threatening social media posts by Dr. Anya and are reviewing the matter closely,” the university continued.
“To be clear: These posts incorrectly imply our university’s endorsement and are contrary to our community standards and values as well as our commitment to fostering a safe, respectful and welcoming campus community.”
More of her social postings were unearthed, including one in August 2022, a month before Queen Elizabeth II died, in which Anya preemptively celebrated the monarch’s passing.
“I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating,” she wrote.
She also marked the first anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by writing, “May he rot in piss,” calling him a “s–tbag” and sharing a repugnant video of sick students mocking him with a dance meant to pantomime his grisly death.
Before making her Instagram private and cutting off any communication or replies, Anya attempted to paint herself as the victim.
“During an entire day of incessant violent threats, racist abuse, and harassment on Twitter — incited by fascist white supremacist MAGA trolls — I was doxxed. I reactivated my account to protect my family,” she wrote on the platform, where her bio describes her as, “audacious, professor, feminist, lesbian, maker of good trouble, mom, and Sirry’s wife.”
Anya emphatically stated she had no regrets for her prior postings and was not sorry in the least.
“I meant every word I said in my tweets responding to white men and all others insulting and maligning me. I do not retract or apologize. May they all eat s–t,” which she then signed “Dr. Uju Anya.”
In a rambling Medium post last July, Anya referenced some of her past social media controversies, seemed to take pride in the fact that two university administrators had told her “my behavior embarrasses Carnegie Mellon and damages its reputation.”
Rather than reflecting on the earnest feedback of her employer, she went right for the institution’s throat.
“Yet again, we are told that Carnegie Mellon University’s association with faculty and students who publicly engage in uncivil discourse damages its reputation, but there is no talk of how my employer’s association with rapists, dictators, genociders, and baby bombers damages its reputation. So, I ask, who is disgracing whom?”
Carnegie Mellon did not immediately respond to a request for clarification if her voluntary leave was the result of her social media activity.
An email sent to Anya’s Carnegie Mellon staff email returned with the out-of-office message, “I am away on sabbatical leave for the 2026-27 academic year, and this email account is not being checked frequently during my absence.”
