Add The New York Post on Google The Islanders named Bo Horvat captain on Monday morning, answering one of training camp’s biggest questions before it could be asked.
Horvat, who wore the “C” in Vancouver before the Islanders traded for him, is the 16th captain in franchise history.
He replaces Anders Lee, who had held the captaincy since John Tavares left in 2018. Lee went to Utah in free agency this summer after negotiations with the Islanders stalled.

Horvat seemed a clear pick to be the franchise’s next captain. He had already worn an ‘A,’ had held the role in a scrutiny-filled market and has been considered a leader throughout his time on Long Island.
