Video shows apparent US strike as Trump blames Iran for school massacre

Footage of a cruise missile hitting near Minab contradicts President Trump’s claims of Iranian culpability

2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenAgenciesPublished: 4:06pm, 9 Mar 2026New video from Iranian state media shows a missile slamming into a compound in southern Iran, as evidence mounted that the US military was most likely responsible for the February 28 attack on a school that left more than 160 dead, mostly children.

The footage, published Sunday by the Mehr News Agency, was titled “The moment when Israeli and American terrorists struck #Minab school”. Video shows a munition consistent with a Tomahawk cruise missile striking an area as black smoke rose from other nearby locations. Screams from witnesses can be heard as the missile hits its target.

The US is the only country known to use Tomahawk missiles.

The strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School, which had the highest reported civilian death toll since the war began, has come under staunch criticism from the UN and human rights monitors.

Iran has blamed Israel and the United States for the blast. The school was hit at the same time that the US was bombing a nearby Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) naval base.
