Add The New York Post on Google The New York Jets are beginning the 2026 season with a familiar face on the opposing sideline as they travel to Tennessee to take on the Titans.
Former Jets head coach Robert Saleh will make his Titans debut in today’s game after being hired to fill their head coaching vacancy during the offseason. Saleh was fired by the Jets five games into the 2024 season after a 2-3 start.
Ahead of the game, Saleh told media, “Our desire to win Week 1, beat the Jets, is because it’s Week 1 and nothing more.”
The Jets are now standing by second-year head coach Aaron Glenn to hopefully turn things around after a 3-14 finish in his first season.
“I have something to prove to myself,” Glenn said ahead of today’s matchup. “I understand what it takes to be a head coach. I like being in this position as a head coach and to make sure we can take this team, and I say we and I emphasize we because it’s not just me, that we can take this team exactly where it needs to go. When I talk about something to prove, I want to prove it to myself more than anything.”
Today’s game also marks the start of the second Geno Smith era in New York. Starting quarterback Smith was traded from the Raiders to the Jets ahead of the 2026 draft, setting up his return to the Jets after a four year stint with the team from 2013-2016.
