It doesn’t matter that Thursday night, as seen on ESPN’s ACC Network, the Miami football team defeated visiting Florida A&M, in a pre-paid slaughter, 77-7, a “game” so bereft of sport and so pervaded by the preposterous that the coaches agreed to a shorten the fourth quarter.
Still, it doesn’t matter. Miami’s stats, offensive and defensive, will be factored into its season-long percentages and national ranks to be repeated and emphasized by media for your enlightenment as if Miami had played Georgia on the road.
Miami was doing A&M a financial favor by agreeing to pay it for a record-breaking humiliation? Why not just send A&M a check?
