The Bay Area ‘racist Karen’ was arrested Wednesday after automated license plate cameras identified her vehicle — hours after she drove around and berated an innocent San Jose father walking with his child.
The suspect, who the California Post identified as 47-year-old Lindsay Hansen from San Jose, was nabbed by San Jose cops and booked in the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of multiple crimes, including stalking and hate crimes.
Automated license plate cameras, which police use to identify and track vehicles but have drawn privacy concerns, helped cops identify Hansen’s vehicle, police said. Her license plate is visible in the viral video.
Her bail is listed at $10,000, and no court date was listed, according to jail records.
The San Jose Police Department announced Thursday that officers arrested Hansen in connection with the encounter involving the San Jose father, in which police said she made “discriminatory remarks at them,” and another incident at a San Jose high school. Police also said she was linked to a “series of other incidents that occurred in the city of San Jose.”

“SJPD Assaults Unit Detectives began a comprehensive investigation into all reported incidents and subsequently located and arrested the suspect in the city of San Jose. She was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple crimes, including stalking and hate crimes,” police wrote.
“The San Jose Police Department is aware of the allegations circulating online and we remain committed to thoroughly investigating any reports of crime victimizing our community,” the department added.
Hansen, who is a mother, had made a series of bizarre claims on social media. She posted a suggestion that Pope Leo XIV is Satan, numerous posts about the Epstein files, various antisemitic posts, and a post saying the birth of her child in 2020 kicked off the 7-year tribulation, or the end times.
She also posted court paperwork related to her past psychiatric treatment, which included an involuntary commitment Telecare Heritage Psychiatric Health Facility under a 5250 hold in 2022.
In a declaration and petition for determination of capacity to refuse consent to medication filed by Bay Area psychiatrist Dr. Shellie Kahane in May 2022, the doctor wrote that Hansen showed symptoms consistent with bipolar disorder and was experiencing a manic episode with “psychotic features.”
Her symptoms included delusions, auditory hallucinations, and paranoia, the doctor wrote.
Kahane wrote that Hansen did not believe anything was wrong with her or that she needed medication. The doctor said Hansen “believes it is her job ‘to drive around and ID pedophiles’ and wants to continue to do so,” according to the filing. The filing said she had been prescribed Invega, an antipsychotic medication.
Hansen’s antics were revealed after a viral video was posted of her interaction with the San Jose father and his child.
In the video, Hansen can be heard ranting at the pair through her passenger-side window, claiming she worked with federal authorities and accusing the father of sex trafficking his child.
“I’m recording you too. I work with the feds. Have a good day,” she says in the footage.
“I’m just making sure that you’re not sex trafficking this poor little girl who’s very unhappy to be with you and doesn’t look like you,” the woman says.
“That’s a white little girl and you are a man of color. So I believe you are either buying or selling or trafficking this child.”
The video poster described himself as brown and his daughter as half-white, and said the woman had harassed them multiple times in their neighborhood.
Police said Thursday that the investigation is still ongoing.
