Add The California Post on Google The NFL still has not yet figured out how it will punish Jed York for his prostitution arrest last month.
Roger Goodell announced on Thursday just before York’s 49ers took on the Rams in Melbourne, Australia that his league is still investigating the allegations against the San Francisco owner.
During a pregame interview with Netflix’s Elle Duncan, Goodell acknowledged the matter is being “looked at” through the NFL’s personal conduct policy, according to Pro Football Talk.
“When we get it completed,” he said, “we’ll obviously make an announcement at that point in time.”
York was taken into custody in East Palestine, Ohio on Aug. 23 after authorities claimed he tried to pay a woman $160 for sex.
York allegedly reached out to an undercover prostitution ad, and when he went to meet up with the woman at a trailer park in East Palestine, cops pulled him over in his rental car and arrested him.
York was initially charged with one count of engaging in prostitution and one count of possessing criminal tools, but on Aug. 24, he reached a deal with prosecutors and pled no contest to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct as well as no contest to the count of possessing criminal tools.
He was sentenced to one day in jail, but was given credit for time served. He was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.
York was not in Australia for the Niners’ season-opening, 27-7 win over Los Angeles, Bay Area News Group’s Cam Inman reported on Thursday from the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The team is currently bracing for a 2-4 game suspension for York, Inman added.
