The fascinating Mets catcher/utilityman prospect has been attempting to fight his way out of Double-A Binghamton while tweaking his swing — “Trying to get to where I want to be” in the box, he said recently.

He has been clawing his way on base regularly (a .346 OBP) but more due to walks than hits (a .201 batting average that bothers him).

“It’s been a tough year on that end,” he acknowledged last month from Reading, Pa., during a road trip with Binghamton. “But I try to bring anything I can to the table, and I know if the average isn’t there, there’s other ways to help the team out.”
