How to watch Steve Carell in ‘Rooster’ on HBO: Release date, cast

“The Office” star leads HBO’s newest Sunday night series, “Rooster,” which premieres tonight, March 8. The half-hour comedy comes to the streamer from Bill Lawrence, the creator behind acclaimed comedies “Scrubs,” “Shrinking,” and “Ted Lasso.”

Carell stars as Greg Russo, a bestselling author navigating a complicated relationship with his daughter (Charly Clive) on the college campus where she works as a professor as she deals with her own relationship troubles.

The series also features Danielle Deadwyler, “Scrubs” alumn John C. McGinley and Phil Dunster, who also appeared elsewhere in the Lawrence-verse as a main character in “Ted Lasso.”

The premiere episode of “Rooster” will be released at 10 p.m. ET on HBO Max — the same time it premieres on the HBO cable channel.

If you don’t get HBO through traditional cable, you’ll need an HBO Max subscription to tune in to “The Pitt.” If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.

Philo is the latest streaming service to include HBO Max in bundles; you’ll pay $33.00/month for over 70 live channels and access to HBO Max.

“Rooster” will have ten episodes, airing weekly.

In addition to the main cast, listed below, Annie Mumolo, Connie Britton, Robby Hoffman and Scott MacArthur will appear in recurring or guest roles on “Rooster.”
