Add The California Post on Google The 2026 NFL season kickoff continues on Thursday with the first international game of the season in Australia, though many fans have been complaining about a specific aspect of the Netflix stream.
After Wednesday’s first game of the season between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, the Los Angeles Rams headed Down Under to take on the San Francisco 49ers.
While a majority of the NFL games are aired on Fox or CBS networks, Thursday night’s game was streamed live for Netflix, though the audio quality left much to be desired for many fans.
Many complained that the sound was somewhat muted, while others complained about the visuals from the streaming service as well.
X user @BigGreek77 complained about both in one post, stating, “@netflix the audio on the game sucks. Does anyone else have this problem. Just sounds like I’m watching an old school video game.”

He was far from the only one to complain, with @HoodiGarland adding, “Netflix audio and video quality of Niners vs Rams game is genuinely dogs—t bro.”
Harrison Carroll (@HCarroll_11), tweeted, “The Netflix crowd noise for this Rams/49ers game sounds like the tornado scene from The Wizard of Oz.”
Bryan Galvan (@BryanGStampede) also described the audio as, “dogs—t,” adding, “Everything sounds delayed and it’s almost unwatchable.”
Another X user dubbed Big Poodle added, “Bruh @netflix why does the Rams game audio sound like your homie called from a game and you can hear the crowd cheering in the background from his phone?”
Matt Katt even went so far as to say, “the audio mix is the worst I’ve ever heard,” adding, “Announcers dry and way too forward in the mix and field audio is terrible.”
Another fan dubbed Mursch stated, “The delayed audio on Netflix makes me want to cancel my subscription.”
However, the audio wasn’t the only target of the home viewer’s ire. They also lashed out at pre-game host Elle Duncan, for her unconventional outfit.
The ESPN analyst was wearing a sleeveless tuxedo top with black gloves, which many fans poked some fun at in several tweets, such as @ChadFisher.

Thursday night’s game is the first of five games that will stream through Netflix throughout the 2026 NFL season.
The second will take place on Wednesday, November 25 – the night before Thanksgiving – when the Green Bay Packers take on the Rams at SoFi Stadium in LA.
Then there will be two games on Christmas Day – the first between longtime rivals Chicago Bears and the Packers, and the second with the Denver Broncos taking on the Buffalo Bills.
The final game will take place Saturday, January 9, 2027, though the opponents have yet to be determined at this time.
