Lunatic California professors throw profane public tantrums

Add The California Post on Google Once upon a time, California universities hired –– almost exclusively –– studious, scholarly and refined professors.

They were ivory-tower types, sure, and skewed left politically.

This weekend, two professors –– one from Cal State Los Angeles and one from UC Santa Barbara –– threw profane public tantrums.

And Californians were reminded, yet again, of the nonsense their tax dollars pay for.

UC and CSU should counsel the crazies and refocus on the classic university mission: teaching students not what to think, but how to think for themselves.

Melina Abdullah, a Pan-African studies prof at Cal State LA, spoke on Sunday at the La Defensa del Pueblo Summit in Pasadena, where she called an ICE agent a “pig-a—,” shared his hotel address, and said:

“Sometimes it’s just do this s–t. You see the devil right there, f–k him up … “F— him up. F— him up. I’m sorry, I’m already on the motherf—king list.”

Yiiiiikes. This is an alleged scholar, at an event in Pasadena, calling for violence against a specific person. Chilling.

And then there’s Butch Ware, a failed politician (go figure) and associate professor of history(!) at UCSB.

On Saturday at the Marxism Conference in Chicago, Ware waxed insane:

“Y’all ain’t dreamed big enough yet. Some of these clickety-clack revolutionaries have never been in a f—ing gunfight, but some of us that grew up in the hood know what guns are like. … Y’all ain’t nowhere near ready for a war in the streets. You better get ready for both kinds of war, and if you stay ready, you ain’t got to get ready.”

It’s no mystery why growing numbers of Americans are skipping college these days, what with professors like these.

Imagine the lectures. The assigned reading. The pressure to indulge the crazy.

Then imagine the cost you’d be paying for all of it.

Profane professors who promote violence are, of course, rotten role models for students. They’re hardly people who should be shaping young minds for a living.

Universities should impart critical-thinking skills, not train students to be activists –– and unhinged ones at that.

It bears emphasizing that California taxpayers help fund the salaries (and at UC, the research) of these and other looney profs. That, too, is an affront.

While not all professors fit this mold –– many are upstanding scholars and fine instructors –– UC and CSU would do well to be more selective in the hiring process. To wit:

Prioritize the serious, sober, scholarly professors –– as stable as a trusty blue book.
