Mechanic crushed to death by Mack semi-truck he was repairing at Long Island shop: police

Add The New York Post on Google A freak accident at a Long Island truck shop killed a mechanic after a massive semi rolled backwards over him as it was being repaired, according to police.

The identity of the employee has not yet been released by police, who said the accident occurred just before 3 p.m. while the repairman was working at Gabrielli Truck Sales in Hicksville on Labor Day, Nassau County cops detailed.

At some point while staffers were working on the truck, it backed over and crushed the mechanic, who was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
