Add The California Post on Google As compelling as today’s Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open quarterfinal match will be, some tennis fans will be more intrigued to see whether pro soccer player Trinity Rodman is in Shelton’s player box.
Rodman (who has been dating Shelton for over a year) watched Shelton’s first two US Open matches in person and went viral for her “I ❤️ my boyfriend” crop top shirt in the second round.
Afterward, Rodman had to leave New York to resume her Washington Spirit season. The Spirit now has a full week off, which might give Rodman the chance to return to see Shelton.
In the meantime, Rodman posted a selfie to her Instagram Story yesterday, where she rocked an oversized pinstriped Adidas jacket over a fitted black top and matching short skirt. She finished the outfit off with a tiny black handbag and deviated from the all-black look with white heels.
Shelton could use Rodman’s support today, given that he’s facing one of the world’s best players. But the 23 year old will have the backing of his home country regardless of whether Rodman is there to cheer him on.
Then again, Alcaraz is one of the world’s most beloved tennis players, and he’ll have no shortage of his own fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
