Add The New York Post on Google The Patriots won’t have a key member of their offense available for their Super Bowl 2026 rematch.
Running back TreyVeon Henderson has been ruled out for Wednesday’s season opener against the Seahawks with an ankle injury, the team announced Tuesday.
Henderson and backup center Ben Brown (knee) will both miss the contest after missing the three practices in the lead-up to Week 1.
The injury to Henderson that he sustained during an Aug. 24 practice should pave the way for Rhamondre Stevenson to get the bulk of the carries in Seattle.

Charles Wenzelberg for The New York Post Henderson, a second-round pick out of Ohio State, began his rookie season relatively slowly but turned things on in November when he rushed for 147 yards against the Buccaneers before one-upping himself in December with 148 yards against the rival Bills.
In all, Henderson, 23, finished his first NFL season with 911 rushing yards and nine touchdowns and 221 more yards and another score through the air. He finished third in the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.
Corey Kiner will now slide into the second running back slot, while Lan Larison or Hassan Haskins could be options for New England to add as a third back off the practice squad.

Corey [Kiner], we talked about him when we traded for him that he was a player that we had looked at trying to get last year coming out. It didn’t work out. He’s a good young runner.
“We’ve kept Lan [Larison] here, giving him an opportunity to be on the practice squad, and then Hassan’s [Haskins] on the practice squad as well. So, whatever we need, some guys have a little bit of different strengths than maybe the other guys. So, there’s a little bit of everything, and then we’ll see who we end up using for the game.”
The Patriots will look to get a measure of revenge against the Seahawks, which beat New England handily in February to win their second Super Bowl.
Drake Maye will lead the offense with a new 1-2 punch at receiver with A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs.
