Mayfield and the Buccaneers agreed on a three-year contract extension worth $165 million on Tuesday, according to multiple reports, with the team set to begin the regular season Sunday.

Mayfield’s future in Tampa Bay was a major discussion during training camp. The two sides broke off talks as camp opened, but reaching a deal before the season was put back on the table as Week 1 loomed.
Mayfield, 31, has spent the past three seasons with the Buccaneers, posting a 27-24 record with two playoff appearances.
