On Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian surprised many observers by apologizing for strikes on neighboring countries and saying the conflict should be resolved diplomatically. But since then, strikes from Iran have continued in the Gulf.The Council of the Arab League will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss Iran’s blatant attacks in the region. While US drones and missile interceptors in the Gulf have mostly performed well, any strikes that get through are raising questions about America’s reliance on them.Professor of US and International Politics at University College Dublin, Scott Lucas, shares further insights.
