‘Tiangong Class’, set to begin at 10am, will also be attended by representatives from the youth sector and the innovation and technology community
2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenMatthew ChengPublished: 4:36pm, 8 Sep 2026First Hong Kong astronaut Lai Ka-ying will deliver a live lecture from space to students and teachers at her alma mater on Wednesday morning, with the session also broadcast to pupils across the city and in neighbouring Macau.
According to an Education Bureau notice delivered to all primary and secondary schools on Tuesday, Lai, alongside her two fellow Shenzhou-23 crew members, mission commander Zhu Yangzhu and Zhang Zhiyuan, would take part in the “Tiangong Class” at Tsuen Wan Public Ho Chuen Yiu Memorial College.
The 1½-hour event, which begins at 9.50am, will also be attended by representatives from the youth sector and the innovation and technology community. A delegation from Macau will also visit the city to attend the lecture in person.
The government said it encouraged primary and secondary school teachers and students to watch the live broadcast on campus.
A live online broadcast will be available on the Information Services Department’s website and Facebook page, as well as on local television stations.
Jointly organised by the Hong Kong and Macau governments and the China Manned Space Agency, the activity will feature an expert lecture, an in-orbit demonstration and a question and answer session to showcase the space environment.
