Add The California Post on Google In a city where the price of gasoline can feel like its own contact sport, DraftKings found a pretty effective way to celebrate the return of football: free gas!
DraftKings descended upon Los Angeles last week, transforming a local North Hollywood gas station into a football-themed takeover, giving hundreds of Angelenos free gas as part of “DraftKings Gameday,” the company’s nationwide celebration of the college football and NFL seasons.

The event was a surprise, so none of the commuters who pulled into the gas station for a fill up knew beforehand. The event lasted four hours and also featured giveaways, contests, and interactive experiences.

Duarte The promotion carried additional significance in California, where the DraftKings app became available for download as the company celebrated its first football season with nationwide availability.
Additionally, DraftKings SERVES, the company’s community impact program, also announced a $50,000 donation to Disabled American Veterans. The contribution was aimed at helping injured and disabled veterans receive free transportation to VA medical facilities and appointments.
For DraftKings, it was a splashy way to plant its flag in Los Angeles as football season returned. For drivers fortunate enough to pull into the station they got a free fill up and a chance to meet some former football stars.
