Distrubing scenes at California EDM show as 14 concertgoers hospitalized

Add The California Post on Google Emergency responders rushed 14 San Jose concertgoers to the hospital on Friday night during a show by popular electronic music duo The Chainsmokers.

The San Jose Fire Department said it received reports of “multiple patients requiring medical attention” at the city’s Discovery Meadow.

“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,” the fire department wrote.

Officials said 14 ambulances responded and all patients were taken to local hospitals.

The San Jose Police Department told NBC Bay Area that the patients were hospitalized for a variety of reasons, including “suspected alcohol intoxication and drug-related issues.”

The concert began at 5 p.m. and ended by 10:34 p.m., according to ABC 7.

Police said paramedics treated some patients at the park, but at least 10 people were taken to the hospital, the outlet reported.

The Chainsmokers shared several Instagram posts from the concert showing the large crowd in attendance.

In a post on Reddit, a user wrote of seeing “a lot of people getting taken out early.”

Another user added: “I saw a lot of people crash out. A few people did not look like they were gonna make it. You got know how to handle your drugs if you’re gonna do them.”
