Add The California Post on Google Despite Cathy Engelbert announcing her plans to retire at the end of the WNBA season, former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom is still indulging in an ongoing feud with her.
Freedom appeared on Fox News on Friday night and spoke about Engelbert’s decision and publicly called her out as “Coo-coo Cathy.”
“Cathy Engelbert, the commissioner, decided to step down as the commissioner from one of the biggest organizations in America,” Freedom said. “I just want America to understand what’s happening here. What we’re doing is working.”

IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Freedom has been under fire lately after a month that was filled with controversy surrounding him after he announced he was planning to declare for the 2027 WNBA Draft as transgender.
According to Article XIII, Section 1(a) of the WNBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, Freedom is considered eligible to enter the WNBA because the agreement does not properly define the term “women” or specify anything about biological sex, hormone levels or physical attributes.
“I want to thank the parents out there. I wanna thank all the Americans out there that believe in and trust in us,” Freedom said. “This is just the beginning. We’re gonna try to put as much pressure as we can.”
Freedom was later asked if he would like to be the next WNBA commissioner. He responded, “I would actually love to,” and said the first thing he would do is bring a dictionary and “tell all task force what a woman is.”

Getty Images Despite calling out Engelbert, Freedom has also been feuding with the Chicago Sky after he was ejected from one of their games against the Indiana Fever when he was confronted by Natasha Cloud.
After watching Sophie Cunningham sink a 3-point shot, Freedom stood and cheered her on. Cloud approached him and said, “She’s not going to sleep with you.”
On Thursday, Freedom filed a lawsuit against the Sky, MPEA and the city of Chicago because he believes he was “mistreated” and because of a violation of the First Amendment.
On Friday, principal owner Michael Alter released a statement on behalf of the team, saying the truth will be revealed in court.
