Add The New York Post on Google A prominent cleric linked to the Muslim Brotherhood boasted that the rise of NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Michigan US Senate candidate Dr. Abdul El-Sayed are the “the blessings” of the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre.
Ali al-Qaradaghi, the secretary general of the Qatar-based International Union for Muslim Scholars, made the remarks at an August conference in Turkey, according to a report released by MEMRI TV.
“If not for the Al-Aqsa Flood and if the Zionists were not put to shame, what is happening in Europe and America would not be happening,” Qaradaghi reportedly said.

The International Union for Muslim Scholars is linked to the radical Muslim Brotherhood, according to the nonprofit Counter Extremism Project.
The IUMS was founded by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, who was “broadly regarded as the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood for decades,” according to George Washington University’s Program on Extremism.
It was accused by the governments of Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates of using “Islamic rhetoric as a cover to facilitate terrorist activities,” in 2017.

The prominent Islamic scholar said Mamdani’s and El-Sayed’s rise would never have happened had Hamas not invaded Israel.
“Mamdani would not have become governor of New York State [sic] and Abdulraham El-Sayed would not have defeated a campaign worth $73 million,” he said. “These are the blessings of the Al Aqsa flood.”
Mamdani rode a wave of anti-Israel sentiment to Gracie Mansion last January and campaigned on a promise to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He later stated he did not have the power to do so. He also defended the chant “Globalize the Intifada,” which refers to the waves of Palestinian terrorism that killed over 1,000 Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks on civilians.
El-Sayed, the Democratic candidate, similarly campaigned as an opponent of Israel and has vowed to withdraw US military aid for the country.
