Add The New York Post on Google A Fox Business anchor says she was mauled by a vicious dog while shopping at a Whole Foods in Manhattan — and is suing the upscale grocery giant.
Jackie DeAngelis, co-host of “The Big Money Show,” claims she was bitten at the Whole Foods at 10 Columbus Circle in September 2023, according to a complaint filed Aug. 20 in Manhattan Supreme Court.
The dog chomped on the financial correspondent’s left hand, police told The Post. By the time cops arrived, the black pit bull and its owner had fled the store.
Jackie DeAngelis says she was attacked by a non-service dog inside of a Whole Foods in 2023. Stephen Yang DeAngelis, 46, underwent hand surgery and has been left “permanently disfigured,” with limited mobility and unable to perform certain tasks, the suit said.
She blames Whole Foods, arguing the dog was not a service animal and should never have been let in.
According to the store’s policy, regular pets are strictly prohibited from coming inside, but service animals are an exception in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
“[Whole Foods] failed to reasonably enforce its own policies, practices and/or procedures concerning animals entering and remaining within the subject store,” the suit said.
She is seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress and her mounting medical expenses.
DeAngelis, a breast cancer survivor, graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and history, before graduating from Rutgers School of Law.
Whole Foods allegedly failed to properly intervene and prevent the attack. Prior to joining the Fox Business Network in 2019, she spent over a decade at CNBC, where she served as the network’s chief energy correspondent.
Fox declined to comment. DeAngelis and Whole Foods did not return a request for comment.
