Add The California Post on Google Aaron Donald was in an ugly feud with his ex-girlfriend over a small dog all while he was in the throes of planning his NFL comeback, new court documents obtained by the California Post on Friday revealed.
Donald, who just re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Aug. 30, wrote in a late-July court filing that he wanted Jaelynn Blakey — his former significant other and the mother of two of his children — to remove her French bulldog from her home, claiming the animal was a “danger” to their kids.
In his request for an order, Donald asked for sole physical custody of his 13-year-old daughter and his 10-year-old son until Blakey got rid of her pet.
Donald alleged that in September 2023, the dog bit his daughter on the mouth. Donald claimed that less than a year later, the dog also bit Blakey’s niece on the mouth. The 10-time Pro Bowler argued that in March 2026, the dog bit his son in the face as well. Donald attached photos of all of the kids’ alleged injuries in his filing.
After each incident, Donald stated Blakey agreed to get rid of the French bulldog, though earlier this summer, he said his children told him she had not found the animal a new home as promised.
“At some point in time, between March 20, 2026 and June 26, 2026, the dog returned to [Blakey’s] home in Los Angeles,” Donald’s filing stated. Blakey “did not tell [Donald] the dog had returned to her home. The Minor Children informed [Donald] of the dog’s return, as well as [Blakey’s] instructions to them ‘not to run [their] mouths’ by telling [Donald].”
In a response to Donald’s filing, Blakey argued in a declaration that the dog was not “dangerous.” She also stated that the kids were not fearful of it and she said she never instructed them to lie about its presence. She also accused Donald of trying to force her to get rid of it in order to hurt her.
Donald “is taking away the family pet whom lived with us since 10 weeks old,” Blakey wrote in her declaration. “He does this under the guise of protecting the children and their safety but that is not his true intent as evidenced by the fact that the dog has lived in my home over the past several years, with his knowledge even after 2023 & 2024 and has not had an issue with it.
“This dog has been my emotional support through hard times, and is loved by my children. This request takes away not only [Donald’s children’s] pet but my youngest daughter’s pet as well. My youngest daughter has lived full time with our dog and it will be devastating to her to lose him.”
A stipulation and order filed on Aug. 3, however, revealed that Blakey ultimately acquiesced and permanently removed the dog from her home. Both Donald and Blakey, according to the document, then agreed to co-parent their kids as they had been doing since before the spat about the animal erupted.
Donald and Blakey were an item over a decade ago but they never married. They broke up around the time Donald and the Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles in 2016.
Donald later married his current spouse, Erica. The two share two children together.
Donald put together a Hall-of-Fame-worthy career for the Rams from 2014 through 2023 and retired in March 2024. However, after LA acquired Myles Garrett in a trade with the Cleveland Browns on June 1, Donald began his comeback efforts.
It’s still not yet clear if the 35-year-old three-time Defensive Player of the Year will suit up for LA in its season-opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia next week.
