Add The New York Post on Google The Jets named rookie Cade Klubnik as their backup quarterback this week, but that does not mean they’re done exploring the quarterback market.
The Jets had former Titans starter Will Levis in for a workout on Thursday, as well as Jack Plummer, who was the UFL MVP this season for the Orlando Storm. If the Jets decided to sign one, they would likely land on the practice squad. The Jets currently have Bailey Zappe on the practice squad.
Geno Smith is the Jets’ starter and the only other quarterback on the active roster is Klubnik, a fourth-round pick out of Clemson.

AP Photo/George Walker IV It feels like a risky move for the Jets to enter the season with Klubnik as Smith’s backup but it is a risk the team is willing to take after watching Klubnik practice and play this summer.
Levis, 27, was a second-round pick by the Titans in 2023 out of Kentucky. He started 21 games in 2023 and ‘24 for Tennessee but did not play last season. The team released him Sunday when rosters were cut from 90 to 53.
Plummer spent time on the Panthers practice squad in 2024 but never appeared in a game. He had 17 touchdowns and one interception for the Storm in the UFL this season and was named MVP.
