The road to the March Madness women’s tournament continues tonight with the semifinals of the SEC Tournament.
The second matchup of the day features one of the projected No. 1 seeds for the NCAA tournament, the Texas Longhorns, and the No. 24 team in the AP Poll, the Ole Miss Rebels.
The Longhorns are 29-3 this season, but all three losses came against SEC teams. However, Texas beat Ole Miss in their January 4 regular season meeting, 67-64.
Ole Miss punched their ticket to the semifinals in a shocking quarterfinal upset. The No. 7 seed in the SEC tournament, Ole Miss built a 32-point lead in the in the third quarter and held on to beat the tournament’s No. 2 seed (and No. 5 nationwide) Vanderbilt.
The winner of tonight’s game will advance into tomorrow’s championship game against the winner of South Carolina vs. LSU.
Today’s (March 7) SEC Tournament semifinal between Texas and Ole Miss is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. ET.
