Trump ‘happy’ Prince Harry and Meghan left US: ‘I was not a fan’

The US president says the couple treated the UK royal family with ‘great disrespect’

“I am happy about it. I was not a fan,” Trump said in the Oval Office when asked about the recent decision ‌by Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to leave California after six years.

The family arrived back in Britain at the end of August. The couple stepped down from official royal duties in 2020 when they moved to the US.

“I thought they treated the royal family with great disrespect. I didn’t like it,” Trump said, mentioning his “good relationship” with the late Queen Elizabeth and her successor King Charles, ‌who is undergoing treatment for cancer.

The president specifically criticised Meghan. “I didn’t like the way she acted. I thought she was terribly disrespectful,” ‌he said.
