Trump ‘happy’ Prince Harry, Meghan Markle left US — but he ‘would not have taken them back’

Add The New York Post on Google President Trump said he is “happy” that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the United States to resettle in England, adding if he were the royal family “I would not have taken them back.”

“I’m happy about it,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office when asked about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex departure from California. “I was not a fan.”

He particularly singled out Markle for her behavior to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her treatment of King Charles.

I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles,” he said.

Trump has long been enamored of the British royal family. Queen Elizabeth hosted him for a state visit in his first term and King Charles hosted him in his second — giving him a rare double state visit for an American president. Trump reciprocated by hosting King Charles and Queen Camilla for a state visit in April.

“I wouldn’t have taken them back,” Trump added of the wayward couple. “If I were the royal family, I would. I would not have taken him back.”
