Add The New York Post on Google Braxton Berrios wasn’t gone for long.
As expected, the Giants signed him back to their practice squad on Monday, according to ESPN, with the plan to elevate him to the active roster for their Week 1 opener against the Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.
Berrios’ veteran status has allowed the Giants to do some legal roster manipulation.

A vested veteran like Berrios does not have to pass through waivers – meaning the Giants were able to keep another player who might have otherwise missed the cut and been subject to waivers, where he could be claimed by another team.
As it turns out, though, the Giants made no waiver claims on Monday. They were fifth in the waiver order.
But they’ll still have to make a corresponding move ahead of Week 1 in order to get Berrios on the active roster – either moving someone to injured reserve or cutting someone else.
Berrios is expected to be the team’s punt returner and a depth receiving option.
