West Hollywood was on a runner’s high Thursday as Amazon MGM Studios hosted the world premiere of its Gal Gadot thriller, “The Runner.”
After the studio’s head of global marketing Sue Kroll welcomed guests to the Harmony Gold Theater — and reminisced about working with Gadot on “Wonder Woman” at Warner Bros. — Gadot herself earned rapturous applause as she took the stage in a plunging red gown, saying, “This has been definitely one of the most challenging movies I’ve ever filmed. It’s gonna grab you, so take a deep breath — it’s gonna let go only at the end of the movie. That’s how I felt when I filmed it.”
“The Runner,” directed by Kevin Macdonald, hits Prime Video on Sept. 2 and follows Gadot as a high-powered attorney whose morning jog goes awry when her son is kidnapped and she’s forced to meet the demands of a mysterious baddie — all while dashing across London.
Attendees, incluiding “Aladdin” actor Mena Massoud and reality star Harry Jowsey, were given gift bags containing some apt goodies: running socks and electrolyte mix.
A swanky afterparty followed at Ysabel in West Hollywood, where guests sipped signature cocktails including the “Sprint Fizz” greyhound, “Runner’s High” espresso martini and “MPH” margarita.
Guests could also take part in a photo op to recreate Gadot’s running pose from the film’s poster, and were met with an on-brand text after: “We have your photos. Don’t ignore this message.” Run!
