Crazed NYC son who allegedly killed mom caught off tip, charged with murder: cops, sources

Add The New York Post on Google The crazed Bronx son who allegedly killed his mom – leaving her bloodied and battered on a couch over the weekend – was arrested when a keen-eyed passerby spotted him Tuesday, cops and sources said.

Bob Johnny Guzman Soto, 33, was charged with murder in the death of his mom, Josefa Soto De Carmen, 57, inside their shared apartment on Grand Concourse near East 168th Street in Concourse Village, authorities said.

He was arrested at West 170th Street and Edward L. Grant Highway soon after someone recognized him from footage the NYPD released to the media, law enforcement sources said.

Soto De Carmen was discovered covered in blood and unresponsive, with trauma to her head and torso, when police responded to the murder scene around 3:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

She was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS workers, cops said.

Guzman Soto fled the scene after the slaying, police said.

Footage released by the NYPD Monday shows him wheeling a suitcase in a building lobby.

It was unclear whether the video was pulled from the residence he shared with his mom – but cops confirmed it was the last sighting of him.

The arraignment for Guzman Soto, who was also charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, was pending Wednesday.

It remained unclear what, if any, weapons were used during the deadly assault.

He has no previous arrests, authorities said.
