A film starring Orlando Bloom, "Reset," is resetting we hear. Getty Images An indie movie called “Reset,” starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Orlando Bloom, is trying to reset after Bloom allegedly dropped out of the project.
A source told Page Six Hollywood that Bloom’s exit was “leaving the production scrambling to reorganize just before filming.”
But another source familiar with the film told us that Bloom’s alleged exit was part of a domino effect when the original director left, and the movie may shoot at a later date with the star after all.
“The director was replaced too close to the start of production,” said the insider. “With ongoing script changes, there was not sufficient time to confidently shoot the film. They may push production to next year.”
When the survival thriller movie was announced in May, a Deadline report said that it was being directed by Matt Smukler and would go into production in August. But on IMDB as of Tuesday, the site said the director of the film is James Madigan, who had had visual effects credits on “Iron Man 2” and “The Da Vinci Code.”
A different source familiar with the production told us: “The filmmakers are now having to move quickly to determine how to proceed with ‘Reset,’ and whether Bloom’s role can be recast without further disrupting the production.”
A rep for Fortitude International, which is financing the film, did not immediately get back to us.
TMZ also reported on Tuesday that Bloom “dropped out of his recent movie at the last minute,” creating a scramble to recast — and that three actors were now up for the role.

The film’s original director, Smukler, said of the casting when the film was announced, “I was looking for a pairing where attraction and mistrust could effortlessly coexist. Priyanka and Orlando have this uncanny ability to make you believe both at once. Their chemistry is undeniable.” Seems the chemistry experiment has blown up… for now.
Bloom, appeared in the 2024 film, “The Cut,” has two upcoming projects, including “Wizards” co-starring Pete Davidson and Werner Herzog’s “Bucking Fastard” with Kate and Rooney Mara.
