The legendary singer-songwriter was a true multi-hyphenate, winning multiple Grammy Awards, earning two Academy Award noms (Best Original Song for “9 to 5″ and Travelin’ Thru”), and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie (2021’s Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square).
Parton also took home the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2026 Academy Awards.
Parton starred in a number of films during her storied career, most notably 9 to 5, the 1980 comedy that also featured Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dabney Coleman, and 1989’s star-studded favorite Steel Magnolias. Rest in peace to a true legend.
