Jeffries brags about Dem obstruction against Trump as he defends Kushner meeting

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said in a video issued on Monday that he accepted President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner's request for a meeting.

The congressman said that he "took it to discuss the affordability crisis that exists that is not a hoax."

Jeffries issued the video after reports of a meeting between him and Kushner sparked some left-wing backlash. They reportedly talked about possible issues of common ground

"No one is going to get a pass. We're gonna hold every single member of the Trump cartel accountable beginning on day one," he said.

Jeffries also touted House Democrats' efforts to fight the Trump administration.

"We're gonna follow the facts, apply the law, and be guided by the Constitution, beginning on day one, and hold the crooks accountable. And that's we've done as House Democrats from the beginning of this Congress," he said, listing battles against the Trump administration regarding "tariffs," "Medicaid," "Epstein," "nutritional assistance," Obamacare, the Iran war, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding and "unprecedented corruption unleashed on the American people."

While Republicans currently wield the House speaker's gavel, if Democrats win the House majority during the upcoming 2026 midterm elections, Jeffries would be a prime candidate for the role.
