Add The New York Post on Google Wyndham Clark’s BMW Championship victory in the second leg of the FedExCup playoffs didn’t come without controversy.
The 32-year-old, who took home a $3.6 million first-place prize, raised eyebrows with his activity before hitting his second shot on the 14th hole out of the rough at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.
Clark, who won his second U.S. Open this year, took at least seven practice swings through the rough next to his ball while changing clubs twice, and the curious process caught the attention of the CBS broadcasters.

“So the lie might be better,” Frank Nobilo added.
Clark ultimately hit a great 173-yard shot onto the green about 24 feet from the hole. He missed a birdie attempt and ended up with a par.
The scenario called to mind Bryson DeChambeau’s two-shot penalty from the British Open last month, when it was deemed the LIV Golf star improved his lie in high grass on the fifth hole during the second round.
A bunch of fans on social media were questioning whether Clark should’ve been assessed a penalty, and it comes as no surprise as he’s already been a target after he damaged the locker room at Oakmont during the 2025 U.S. Open.
Clark did birdie each of his last three holes to finish an even 70 in the final round and 17-under for the tournament, taking a three-shot victory over Patrick Cantlay. Rory McIlroy finished in third place at 13-under.
