Consortium wins Northern Metropolis project with HK$1.03b bid

Six-company consortium awarded tender for 10.5-hectare project in Hung Shui Kiu, with total investment of HK$16.8 billion expected

2-MIN READ2-MIN ListenEdith LinPublished: 8:03pm, 24 Aug 2026Updated: 8:04pm, 24 Aug 2026A consortium of mainland Chinese-backed companies and a subsidiary of a Hong Kong developer has won the first “large-scale land disposal” project in the Northern Metropolis for HK$1.03 billion (US$132 million), with the total investment expected to reach HK$16.8 billion.The Development Bureau announced the results on Monday, awarding the tender for the 10.5-hectare development project in Hung Shui Kiu to the six-company consortium, HSK New Development Limited.

It comprises China Merchants Land, China Resources Land (Overseas), China Overseas Land & Investment, a subsidiary of Sino Land, CTG Investment and mainland e-commerce company JD.com.

“The winning consortium comprises both major corporations with decades of experience in local real estate development and industry leaders deeply rooted in other sectors,” Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho said.

“Their combined expertise and capabilities are beyond doubt, showing that projects can foster cross-sector corporate collaboration.

“By joining forces, these six enterprises have cast a tangible vote of confidence in the Northern Metropolis, paving the way for its diversified development model.”
