Raiders releasing Geno Smith after one woeful season

The Raiders are expected to release the former Jets quarterback, barring a trade, ahead of the start of the new league year next week, ESPN reported Friday.

Smith, 35, arrived in Las Vegas last offseason via a trade with the Seahawks and agreed to a two-year, $75 million contract extension that included $66.5 million guaranteed.

Las Vegas owns the No. 1 pick in April’s NFL draft and is expected to select Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza after going a woeful 3-14 in 2025.
